GROWING IN CHRIST BY READING THE BIBLE.
Reading the Bible cover to cover each year is a good way to grow in Christ.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 NKJV
YOU CANNOT READ THE BIBLE TOO MANY TIMES:
The wonderful thing about the Word of God is that even if you have read the Bible many times, God will always reveal new insight and understanding to what you already know or think you already know. The Word of God will challenge you and shake up your world the way Jesus did in the days he ministered on earth. He is still ministering to us today.
BIBLE STUDY RESOURCES:
There are several apps that have Bible reading lesson plans. This year I chose a Chronological plan (one that reads in the order that Bible scholars believe things happened). I also chose to listen to the audio version of a translation that I like – ESV (English Standard Version), but by the time I got to Genesis 6, I had already discovered two incorrect translations that changed the meaning of the verses. I’m now switching to ASV (American Standard Version). It is good to compare translations and even better to familiarize yourself with concordances and Bible dictionaries. One of my favorite online study tools is https://blueletterbible.com.
WHAT HAPPENS AS WE READ GOD’S WORD:
With each reading of the Bible, we grow in understanding as the Holy Spirit reveals more and more to us. As we submit to God, we grow in relationship with him. As we purpose to live a lifestyle of obedience to God and His Word, we grow in holiness. Living a life of holiness honors God and brings us closer to him. When we are close to God, there are many benefits. We hear him clearly, we see signs and wonders, we experience extraordinary favor and much much more.
READING THE BIBLE REGULARLY IS ONE OF THE BEST RESOLUTIONS A CHRISTIAN CAN MAKE:
Here are some scriptures that encourage us to read the Bible. God’s Word is rich, powerful, and good, but above all, it is TRUTH.
